About MobilizeMe Physiotherapy

Welcome to MobilizeMe Physiotherapy, I am the Director and Principal Physiotherapist, Karise Wilson. I am originally from Canada but have been living on the beautiful Gold Coast since 2004.

I grew up playing every sport imaginable, which subsequently lead me to spend a lot of time at the physiotherapist! Since then, my passion for physio has grown, and I've now been working as a physio since 2007. I love taking the time to help people recover from injury, and dig into the underlying cause of their problem. I have a patient-centred approach, and will only ever treat one person at a time.

Clinic tag-line / mission statement

Physiotherapy that gets to the true cause of your pain by providing long assessments with no double bookings.

What makes MobilizeMe Physiotherapy unique

Long appointment times with no double bookings. We believe in taking my time with thorough assessments to understand the true cause of your injury and not just focus on the symptoms. With a background in Exercise Science we can help you recover from an injury with exercise programs provided through PhysiTrack to keep you motivated.

We specialise in some of the following

Dry needling, exercise prescription, movement assessment utilising the MAT system and foot mapping. I specialise in helping Crossfitters get out of pain and back to the gym with minimal downtime. Special interest in low back pain/injuries.

Karise Wilson

I'm Karise Wilson, the DIrector and Lead Physiotherapist at MobilizeMe Physiotherapy. I utilise manual therapy, exercise prescription, dry needling, scenar therapy and massage as tools to improve pain and help patients rediscover their love for exercise.

In addition to my clinical work, I have designed a mobility app called MobilizeMeApp to provide people with the tools to manage their bodies and help them perform independently. Think of the app as a how-to guide for stretching, foam rolling and many more!

Q&A with Karise Wilson

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?

Mostly because as a child I was constantly injured from playing every sport I could try, therefore always at the Physio clinic! I thought it was a bit like detective work, trying to figure out what the problem was and loved the idea of doing it myself!

What do you love most about your job?

Figuring out what the actual problem is and being able to help someone learn more about their body and how to get out of pain! It’s so rewarding to help someone move better and more efficiently and teach them ways to help themselves reduce the chance of injury. Empowering clients is the main focus of my sessions.

Why should a new patient decide to choose you?

I take the time to figure out the reason you are injured and work out a solution based on your goals. I truly take the time to listen and be as thorough as possible as I feel this is an area of health care that is greatly lacking. Too many people get rushed in and out of clinics without an understanding of what is wrong with them. They aren't given any strategies to help themselves - and I want to change that!

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

Surfing, traveling, going to the gym, hanging out with my husband and dog at the beach or out in nature! I’ve recently rediscovered a love of hiking and climbing mountains so am ticking off a few trails off my list, one at a time!

What do you enjoy about Miami and the community?

The proximity to the beach, the chilled out neighborhood feel with great restaurants and cafes all within walking distance.

Find us online

Physio Miami is (from our research) one of the most common searches our patient's use to find us, followed by Physiotherapist Miami and interestingly, Physiotherapy Miami. Patients often search us by suburb first, however, and as a result, some other typical searches include Miami Physio, Miami Physiotherapist and or Miami Physiotherapy. Though not a direct variation to the two above, a broader approach is often taken with a search like; physio near me, or if a practice is more intended then physiotherapy near me is quite often the search. We have found that depending on the demographics the use of the word 'in' features quite heavily, and so we'll often see Physio in Miami, Physiotherapist in Miami and Physiotherapy in Miami as common phrases. In the end, we do our best to be as visible and accessible for our patients in and around our local area as possible.
