General FAQs

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a medical profession aimed at helping people recover from physical ailments. It involves a variety of physical exercises and technological treatments that assist with the restoration of strength, mobility, and flexibility. Physiotherapy is not just a form of rehabilitation but also works well as a preventative exercise for various bodily illnesses. It promotes fitness and helps maintain health through different situations, including stress, injuries, and mobility issues.

Some of the core physiotherapy treatments include:

∙ Exercise regimes

∙ Re-educating atrophied muscles

∙ Hydrotherapy– water exercises to heal problems like arthritis

∙ Stiffness therapy with manual stimulation

∙ Massaging muscle tissue to improve mobility

∙ Acupuncture for pain relief

A physiotherapist requires highly in-depth knowledge of how the human body functions. Knowledge of biology, anatomy, body movements and physical limitations are a crucial part of a physiotherapist’s training. University courses in physiotherapy generally span about 4 years, resulting in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the field.

Identifying the right problem is another important skill needed to set up the appropriate treatment for each case.

Australia’s medical policies do not require a doctor’s referral to consult with a physiotherapist.

As such, most physiotherapists will interact with your treating physician to fully understand your medical history. This allows them to visualize your condition and help you get back to your best physical self as quickly as possible.

After all, the main goal of seeking physiotherapy is to return your ailing body to normalcy. Physiotherapy is, therefore, an important solution to enjoying a healthy and pain-free lifestyle.
