Q&A with Michael Morkos

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?

When I was younger my mother had a car accident and she always asked me to help make her back feel better. I really enjoyed helping her with her pain and from that onwards I realised that is what I would like to do with my life. I pride myself in wanting to help patients feel better, be pain free and return back to living their best lives and getting back to doing what they enjoy.

What do you love most about your job?

I love being surrounded by like-minded individuals who care about their health and well-being. I love working with my hands, having the freedom to tailor treatments to a patient and assisting them to achieve their goals pain-free.

Why should a new patient decide to choose you?

Because I prioritise their health and well-being, I am an enthusiastic and experienced physiotherapist in management and treatment of orthopaedic, sporting and musculoskeletal cliental. I'm dedicated and have a strong work ethic - I enjoy working in a team setting and under pressure and always maintains a friendly demeanour to provide effective outcomes.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

I love exploring the most up to date research articles for the best treatment planning for my patients. I also enjoy spending time with my wife, serving my local church community, playing basketball and squash, going out to a good steak restaurant (more often) and indulging my sweet tooth (less often).

What do you enjoy about Ivanhoe and the community?

I feel the suburb and community of Ivanhoe really appreciate and value quality of care, health and that their well-being is crucial to them.

Q&A with David Georgy

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?

I decided to become a physiotherapist because I enjoy helping people and problem-solving; both of which I can do as a physio. Plus the bonus of enjoying the outdoors, exercise and a keen interest in a variety of sports is a bonus.

What do you love most about your job?

Although many clients present with similar pathology, they are all different with different goals, environments and activities to return to. This makes my job genuinely unique, as every consult is different and keeps me on my toes—That's what I love most about my job.

Why should a new patient decide to choose you?

I am a passionate and experienced physiotherapist in the management of musculoskeletal conditions and orthopaedic rehabilitation. I am well known for a thorough assessment and supportive demeanour, and I utilise a varied approach to treatment; with patient education, manual mobilisation, soft tissue work, dry needling and exercise prescription at the core of my practice.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

When not working in or on the business, I enjoy travelling and the outdoors, spending time with my beautiful wife and one year old, volunteering at my local parish, and enjoying my hobby for digital graphic design and watching basketball.

What do you enjoy about Ivanhoe and the community?

I have been working in Ivanhoe for six years, and I love the community feel, and how it brings together seniors and young adults starting their journey in life.

Q&A with Youliana Morcos

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?

I enjoy certain injuries' complex nature and how the body is similar to a puzzle you may complete. I thoroughly enjoy putting the pieces back together to optimise patients health outcomes. I have a deep fascination with how different organs and body systems form the functioning human body.

What do you love most about your job?

Meeting the patients and assisting them to get back to doing things they love to do. I enjoy educating patients to better understand their body and their needs to fully assist in their recovery, which is very rewarding to be apart of.

Why should a new patient decide to choose you?

I endeavour to provide a supportive, compassionate and motivated approach to treatment to aid in recovery to get clients back on track. I am also dedicated to ensuring that patients are educated on their presenting injury and that best evidence-based management is delivered to optimise patient outcomes.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

Away from the clinic, I thoroughly enjoy playing tennis with friends, going for bike rides, travelling around the world or exploring our great country and taking my dog on long walks on the beach to unwind.

What do you enjoy about Ivanhoe and the community?

Everyone around Ivanhoe is very focussed on optimising health outcomes. This is evident with the compliance with physiotherapy treatment, which assists in managing their ailments.

Patients often search us by suburb first, however, and as a result, some other typical searches include Ivanhoe Physio, Ivanhoe Physiotherapist and or Ivanhoe Physiotherapy. Though not a direct variation to the two above, a broader approach is often taken with a search like; physio near me, or if a practice is more intended then physiotherapy near me is quite often the search. We have found that depending on the demographics the use of the word 'in' features quite heavily, and so we'll often see Physio in Ivanhoe, Physiotherapist in Ivanhoe and Physiotherapy in Ivanhoe as common phrases.
