Find us online

Physio Yarraville is (from our research) one of the most common searches our patient's use to find us, followed by Physiotherapist Yarraville and interestingly, Physiotherapy Yarraville. Patients often search us by suburb first, however, and as a result, some other typical searches include Yarraville Physio, Yarraville Physiotherapist and or Yarraville Physiotherapy. Though not a direct variation to the two above, a broader approach is often taken with a search like; physio near me, or if a practice is more intended then physiotherapy near me is quite often the search. We have found that depending on the demographics the use of the word 'in' features quite heavily, and so we'll often see Physio in Yarraville, Physiotherapist in Yarraville and Physiotherapy in Yarraville as common phrases. In the end, we do our best to be as visible and accessible for our patients in and around our local area as possible.

History of Yarraville

Yarraville was named after Yarra River as the suburb is located immediately west of it.

Settlement in the area began around the 1870s after a railway stopping place was opened in the suburb. During that time, a church was already established in Yarraville, and a Common School was opened in 1875 because of the growing population of the suburb.

In 1880, Yarraville became a popular location for factories due to the ease of transporting goods via the local train station and the Yarra River. By the late 1890s, a shopping centre was already open in the suburb with plenty of shops operating around Anderson Street.

Over the years Yarraville became a working-class suburb before it underwent rapid gentrification due to its close location to the Melbourne CBD.
