Woolloongabba, a suburb within the local government area of the City of Brisbane in Queensland, is bordered by localities like South Brisbane, Kangaroo Point, Dutton Park, East Brisbane, Coorparoo, Fairfield, Stones Corner, Annerley, and Greenslopes.
While some experts believe that the Aboriginal meaning of 'Woolloongabba' is "whirling waters", some others say it means a "fight talk place". Further, the suburb was also called the One Mile Swamp since it was a swampy and low-lying area.
Woolloongabba is situated 2 kilometres south-east of the Brisbane CBD and comprises the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Brisbane Cricket Ground.
