History of Woodcroft
The early settlers of the region were the Europeans who came to the area in 1869. Robert Wright and Mary joined together to build a small dwelling made from mud and limestone. It was in 1897 when Richard Mostyn Owen established the winery. He built a homestead which he named as Woodcroft Farm, and this is how the suburb got its name. Even today, the traces of this dwelling do exist in a park that is named after him. Today, Mount Hurtle is a boutique winery. Woodcroft underwent a lot of changes over the years.
