Find us online

Physio Summer Hill is (from our research) one of the most common searches our patient's use to find us, followed by Physiotherapist Summer Hill and interestingly, Physiotherapy Summer Hill. Patients often search us by suburb first, however, and as a result, some other typical searches include Summer Hill Physio, Summer Hill Physiotherapist and or Summer Hill Physiotherapy. Though not a direct variation to the two above, a broader approach is often taken with a search like; physio near me, or if a practice is more intended then physiotherapy near me is quite often the search. We have found that depending on the demographics the use of the word 'in' features quite heavily, and so we'll often see Physio in Summer Hill, Physiotherapist in Summer Hill and Physiotherapy in Summer Hill as common phrases. In the end, we do our best to be as visible and accessible for our patients in and around our local area as possible.

History of Summer Hill

Prior to the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788, Summer Hill was part of a greater area where Wangal and Cadigal Aboriginal people lived.

The first known mention of "Summer Hill" was in 1876 when it was used to name a land subdivision. It is said that the name was chosen by the land sub-divider and assumed to be linked to England.

Around the 1880s, Carleton, the area's largest mansion, was built. Around those years, the suburb boomed due to the opening of the local railway's station and subdivision of the surrounding areas.

Summer Hill became an upper-class suburb in the late 1880s to early 1900s, where most residents were banking and insurance professionals who worked in the city. However, the suburb again changed as wealthier residents moved to another place. In the 1970s, the remaining mansions in the suburb were demolished to pave the way for the building of new residential establishments.
