Our team at Activ Therapy have helped thousands of people that live with pain. So many of the patients we see have been told that they have to deal with and accept pain. They've been told that it's "part of getting old", or they've just got to manage the pain. What we try to do is have a look at everything that's impacting you everything and find a solution.

After hearing all of these stories for so long, our team has realised that we can help educate people to find the right solution for their pain problem. So if you've frequently been taking medication or just cutting away the things that you enjoy doing, we want to help you be able to make a better decision about your health and your pain!

Shranal Prasad

Shranal Prasad is one of our experienced physiotherapists at Activ Therapy. As a child, Shranal loved anything and everything to do with sports. From soccer to swimming, oz tag and even softball - he was keen to try his hand at almost anything! His passion for sport led him to realise that he wanted to pursue a career in health and fitness.

Shranal was also a passionate martial arts competitor, eventually becoming a coach. It was this foundation in movement practice that led him to realise that physiotherapy was the right career path for him.

Q&A with Shranal Prasad

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?

As a kid, I loved playing sports! I played soccer, swimming, oz tag and even softball. I was always interested in health and fitness from a young age. As I finished school, I knew that I wanted to learn to be able to help my friends, fellow athletes and colleagues and allow them to be pain-free and injury-free. This made it easy to decide to become a physiotherapist.

What do you love most about your job?

I love helping people. It is gratifying when a client of mine tells me that they have returned to their sport or can now go to the shops and use public transport confidently. It's imperative to set goals in rehab as it helps us to know what we are working towards. They are not just your goals; they are my goals as well.

Why should a new patient decide to choose you?

I have an intensive sporting background. I have two degrees under my belt at the moment (Bachelor of Sport & Exercise Science, Masters of Physiotherapy). I take a biomechanical approach to therapy and focus on your goals.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

I love doing strength training, body building, martial arts training, tricking and acrobatics, coaching all ages and eating! I do a lot of physical training (and eating) as it is something I highly enjoy. It is very much apart of my lifestyle.

What do you enjoy about Prestons and the community?

I work in an amazing community! Every day I meet someone new in Prestons and it is great to hear everyone's story!

Lawrence Khuu

Lawrence Khuu joined the team in 2014, starting his career with Activ Therapy at our Chipping Norton clinic.

Back in high school, he always knew that he wanted to help people in and be involved in the health industry. During his formative years, Lawrence picked up a few injuries when training in the cross-fit arena; it was these injuries that inspired him to continue down the physiotherapy path. He could see that a good physiotherapist was vital in the recovery process!

His belief system focuses on formalised exercise rehabilitation. You must learn to move well and move safely, whether that's just back and forth to the office or in a high-intensity environment at the gym!

Lawrence is now one of our senior physiotherapists and plays a crucial role in mentoring junior members of our team.

Chris Kwon

Chris Kwon didn't take the regular route to physiotherapy. Starting a degree in Science and Biomedical Engineering, he quickly realised that his passion lay much more resonant in health. He ended up changing paths and completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree from the Australian Catholic University in 2018.

The engineer in him hasn't completely subsided, though, with a passion for understanding human biomechanics still a big part of Chris's work. His goal is to not only treat symptoms but address the root cause of pain. He has a particular interest in the spine and subsequent problems people face.

Beyond his clinical work, Chris loves to ski, play golf and cook! He is a qualified ski instructor, something he pursued during a gap year.

Chris is fluent in both Korean and English, providing consultations for those who require physiotherapy in Korean

Find us online

Physio Prestons is (from our research) one of the most common searches our patient's use to find us, followed by Physiotherapist Prestons and interestingly, Physiotherapy Prestons. Patients often search us by suburb first, however, and as a result, some other typical searches include Prestons Physio, Prestons Physiotherapist and or Prestons Physiotherapy. Though not a direct variation to the two above, a broader approach is often taken with a search like; physio near me, or if a practice is more intended then physiotherapy near me is quite often the search. We have found that depending on the demographics the use of the word 'in' features quite heavily, and so we'll often see Physio in Prestons, Physiotherapist in Prestons and Physiotherapy in Prestons as common phrases. In the end, we do our best to be as visible and accessible for our patients in and around our local area as possible.
