Mandurah is a suburb located about 72 kilometres south of Perth with a land area of 106.6 km2. It's a coastal city and is considered to be the second biggest city in the state. History of Mandurah

Mandurah's suburb got its name from the Noongar word, Mandjar, which means "meeting place". The Noongar were also the first people to inhabit the area before the Europeans.

The first European settler in the area was Thomas Peel. After he passed away in 1865, the community he established continued to develop gradually until the 20th century. It is also home to the fish industry in the early years, paving the way for the fish cannery established at Mandurah in 1870. Mandurah was named the fifth non-metropolitan settlement in Western Australia to become a city on 14 April 1990,
