Q&A with Annissa Harwood

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?

Being passionate about working with people and the human body's mechanics meant that physio always made sense as a career to me. Being a regular at the physio myself when training during my teen years solidified the idea that being knowledgable about your body can make all the difference to how you feel.

What do you love most about your job?

I love that I get to work with all sorts of people with different goals every day - no two bodies are the same. The best part of my job is empowering people to know more about and improve their bodies - it's the only one we've got!

Why should a new patient decide to choose you?

If you're looking for a knowledgeable physio focusing on exercise rehabilitation and empowering you to get the most from your body, then I'm the one for you! With a dance background and regular use of Pilates and gym-based workouts, I am sure to get you back to whatever you love.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

I am a regular gym-goer, and I continue to dabble in dance in a few forms, mainly ballroom. Otherwise, you'll find me curled up with a good book and a glass of wine!

What do you enjoy about Madeley and the community?

The community in Madeley is very welcoming and warm. I am lucky in this clinic to work with whole families - from parents to grandparents and cousins! I love being a member of the community here; it makes coming to work a pleasure.

Find us online

Physio Madeley is (from our research) one of the most common searches our patient's use to find us, followed by Physiotherapist Madeley and interestingly, Physiotherapy Madeley. Patients often search us by suburb first, however, and as a result, some other typical searches include Madeley Physio, Madeley Physiotherapist and or Madeley Physiotherapy. Though not a direct variation to the two above, a broader approach is often taken with a search like; physio near me, or if a practice is more intended then physiotherapy near me is quite often the search. We have found that depending on the demographics the use of the word 'in' features quite heavily, and so we'll often see Physio in Madeley, Physiotherapist in Madeley and Physiotherapy in Madeley as common phrases. In the end, we do our best to be as visible and accessible for our patients in and around our local area as possible.
