Q&A with Liam Oates

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?

I've always wanted to stay involved in sports as best as possible, which physiotherapy allows me to do so.

As well as this, I love seeing people be able to achieve their fitness/activity goals, and this career provides a great avenue to be strongly involved in that process.

What do you love most about your job?

Being able to help various people, particularly those who play a field or court sport. The ability to engage with the community and meet a variety of different people and see them/be a part of their journey towards their goals is incredibly fulfilling.

Why should a new patient decide to choose you?

I have many years of experience working with sports teams and always try my best to utilise the knowledge I have gained to help patients get the best outcomes.

I always keep the patients best interests at heart and try to communicate clearly what I feel will be best for the short and long term.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

I love being physically active. I run and cycle multiple times each week, and I play basketball as well. I'm a massive sports nut and love watching the AFL and NBA and our local soccer leagues, the NPL and State Leagues, as well as our WNPL.

What do you enjoy about Findon and the community?

The number of gyms, sports clubs and sporting centres around Findon means there is always a massive variety of places to stay engaged with.

Q&A with Caitlin Finnis

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?

I always had an interest in healthcare when it came to considering future study and work. Admittedly the decision to study physiotherapy, in particular, was somewhat random. Still, I loved it and have come to enjoy it even more as I've worked and continued to learn. Physiotherapy is such a valuable profession and offers so much more than what most people think.

What do you love most about your job?

The problem solving involved in assessment and diagnosis, it's an engaging job for this reason that keeps you mentally active. However, I also immensely enjoy teaching exercise, really getting into the nitty-gritty of teaching someone how to move and what they should be looking to feel in their body as they move. On top of that, seeing people progress and improve as we work together is always hugely rewarding. Getting to help people back to doing the things they love is just fantastic.

Why should a new patient decide to choose you?

I'm an enthusiastic and caring therapist, local to and trained in Adelaide. I also have further training and experience in Pilates. I'm want to help you build confidence and find joy in movement and exercise.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

I enjoy exercising (CrossFit, running and walking), spending time with the people I care about and getting outside - particularly to a beach or park. I love spending time with animals! My parents are involved with breeding dogs, and getting to cuddle puppies is always a treat. I also love food; eating and sharing a meal with loved ones is always wonderful.

What do you enjoy about Findon and the community?

I enjoy that the people I get to work with are generally enthusiastic about movement or at least willing to learn!

Q&A with Damon Siviour

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?

I've always loved engaging with and doing whatever I can to help others, and to combine that with my passion for sport and exercises ties it all together! I also saw a physiotherapist for a shoulder injury I sustained with footy, which significantly impacted me and helped me realise this would be a job well suited.

What do you love most about your job?

Engaging and building friendships with people from all different backgrounds positively impact their lives as I help guide them through a rehab journey, help them reach their goals, and get them back to doing what they love, pain-free.

Why should a new patient decide to choose you?

Rehab can often be a long and draining process; however, one of my many special skills is building friendships with my patients whilst using up to date evidence-based practice to help make this as smooth and enjoyable as possible!

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

Despite not being able to of late, travelling is one of my passions, having spent a large portion of time overseas in Central and South America and Indonesia. I am also very active and enjoy running, footy, golf, and a range of other sports. When not doing this, you can usually find me playing the guitar, hanging out with friends, camping, or down at the beach.

What do you enjoy about Findon and the community?

I love the Western Suburbs of Adelaide as being near the sea; it reminds me of home on the Eyre Peninsular. The people are often easygoing and friendly, and there is a vast range of things to do.

Find us online

Physio Findon is (from our research) one of the most common searches our patient's use to find us, followed by Physiotherapist Findon and interestingly, Physiotherapy Findon. Patients often search us by suburb first, however, and as a result, some other typical searches include Findon Physio, Findon Physiotherapist and or Findon Physiotherapy. Though not a direct variation to the two above, a broader approach is often taken with a search like; physio near me, or if a practice is more intended then physiotherapy near me is quite often the search. We have found that depending on the demographics the use of the word 'in' features quite heavily, and so we'll often see Physio in Findon, Physiotherapist in Findon and Physiotherapy in Findon as common phrases. In the end, we do our best to be as visible and accessible for our patients in and around our local area as possible.
