Q&A with Kevin Chai

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?

I love Physics and Science in high school, which makes me interested in studying how to apply physics in health science to heal tissues, recover from injuries and improve health. In this modern life, I realised that not all pain can be fixed by medicine or operations. I wish to help people to use non-invasive, natural methods to recover and regain optimal health. That's exactly what physiotherapy offers.

What do you love most about your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is to hear clients telling me that I have made a difference to their lives. Nothing brings more job satisfaction than that. I am passionate about helping others and delivering the best quality of physiotherapy treatment.

Why should a new patient decide to choose you?

With more than 10 years of practice and continuous learning, I have a wealth of knowledge in the areas of musculoskeletal, sports injuries and pain. I use a holistic approach when treating someone with injured and painful body parts. With a movement perspective, I don’t only offer symptom relief, but trying to identify faulty movement patterns and improve quality of motion. Prevention of long term compensation, dysfunction and chronic pain is the goal. I speak both English and Mandarin fluently.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

I enjoy being a new Dad now, taking the little ones to parks, doing outdoor activities and having family time. Reading and always learning new ideas and concepts have been my favourite things to do, especially when it comes to anything related to movements, rehabilitation, pain science etc.

What do you enjoy about Ferntree Gully and the community?

Ferntree Gully offers me a variety of case loads ranging from teenager's sports injuries to chronic pain conditions. I enjoy seeing different case loads.

Q&A with Masaki Sai

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?

I was always interested in science and health and wanted to pursue a career in the healthcare sector. Physiotherapy had attracted my attention as I participated frequently in sports, especially basketball. But what made me want to become a physiotherapist working in the community is through my elective placement in private practice, there I realised that many clients experience significant improvement in their quality of life from seeing a physiotherapist.

What do you love most about your job?

The best part of working as a physiotherapist for me, is seeing clients making progress in rehabilitation and returning to doing what they love to do. It is a privilege to be able to build a good personal rapport with the client and guide them through the rehabilitation journey.

Why should a new patient decide to choose you?

While I am not as experienced as a more senior physiotherapist, I will sit down with you to explain every detail of your problem, discuss and determine your goals to help you achieve them.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

Out of the clinic, I spend the majority of my time socialising and meeting my friends. This includes going to a new restaurants, or sitting down and playing a variety of boardgames that I have accumulated overtime. Otherwise I often travel to Queensland to see my family.

What do you enjoy about Ferntree Gully and the community?

Ferntree Gully is a quiet and heartwarming community. Most of my client's are friendly and always happy to see a young physiotherapist like me out and about!
