Find us online

Physio Darwin is (from our research) one of the most common searches our patient's use to find us, followed by Physiotherapist Darwin and interestingly, Physiotherapy Darwin. Patients often search us by suburb first, however, and as a result, some other typical searches include Darwin Physio, Darwin Physiotherapist and or Darwin Physiotherapy. Though not a direct variation to the two above, a broader approach is often taken with a search like; physio near me, or if a practice is more intended then physiotherapy near me is quite often the search. We have found that depending on the demographics the use of the word 'in' features quite heavily, and so we'll often see Physio in Darwin, Physiotherapist in Darwin and Physiotherapy in Darwin as common phrases. In the end, we do our best to be as visible and accessible for our patients in and around our local area as possible.

Darwin profile

Darwin, the capital city of the Northern Territory, Australia, seats on the beautiful Timor Sea. It lies in proximity to Southeast Asia, which creates a link between Australia and other countries like Indonesia and East Timor.

The estimated population of the city is 148,564 as of 2018, and today, it has more inhabitants than the rest of Northern Territory. Darwin is the smallest and wettest Australian capital city situated at the extreme northern side, serving as the regional centre of the Top End.

The suburbs of the city begin from Lee Point to Berrimah, beyond which the Stuart Highway stretches to Palmerston, the satellite city of Darwin, and its suburbs. The city experiences a tropical climate having a mix of wet and dry seasons, which is like most of the Top End regions.

History of Darwin

The first inhabitants and traditional custodians of the greater Darwin area are the Aboriginal people belonging to the language group of Larrakia. These inhabitants had trading links with Southeast Asia, which helped them import goods from South and Western Australia.

The Northern Territory, which was initially governed by South Australia, was finally transferred to the Commonwealth in 1911. This was the same year when the official name of the city was changed to Darwin from Palmerston.

Facilities

The public transport services of the Territory are operated by the Public Transport Division of the Department of Lands and Planning. Darwin’s bus network provides transport to the central suburbs of the city.

The Royal Darwin Hospital, located in Tiwi, is a significant referral and teaching hospital of the city and is the largest one in the Northern Territory.

Power and Water Corporation operates Darwin’s water supply and storage, as well as its power supply services.
