Q&A with Jacob Taylor

What made you decide to become a physiotherapist?

I have always had a passion for sport, the human body and working with people. I fractured my ankle as a 16-year-old and saw a great physiotherapist who helped me complete my rehabilitation. It was a great experience, and they helped get my ankle back to 100% and helped me return to sport and doing what I loved to do. As a result, I chose to study physiotherapy after completing high school with a desire to help others get back to or keep doing what they love to do. For me it's surfing, time with my kids, running and AFL football. Whatever you love to do, you should be able to do without pain and injury. I can't stand pain stopping me from doing what I enjoy. So as a physiotherapist, every day I get to help others get pain-free and help them do whatever it is they love to do. #painfree #dowhatyoulove

What do you love most about your job?

I thoroughly enjoy working with people to do whatever they love doing. Helping people get pain-free and remove those physical limitations from their body and life excites me! I love empowering people to understand their body and make the lifestyle changes they need to make, to enjoy living life to the full!

Why should a new patient decide to choose you?

Having worked with Brisbane Roar, the NBA and some of Australia's best swimmers and triathletes, I have almost ten years of experience in private practice sports and rehab-based physiotherapy. I am passionate about helping patients like you achieve your health goals.

If you are motivated, goals-driven and sick and tired of putting up with pain or injury stopping you from achieving your goals and living life to the full, I can help you get pain-free and back doing what you love to do!

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

I have a wife, two-year-old daughter and a puppy, so love spending time with my family. When not helping people through physiotherapy, I love to get outdoors hiking, surfing, running and spending time with quality people.

What do you enjoy about Coolangatta and the community?

I love the coastal feel that Kirra and Coolangatta offer! The local community here is friendly, kind and united in their love of the beach and the outdoors, which I love!

Find us online

Physio Coolangatta is (from our research) one of the most common searches our patient's use to find us, followed by Physiotherapist Coolangatta and interestingly, Physiotherapy Coolangatta. Patients often search us by suburb first, however, and as a result, some other typical searches include Coolangatta Physio, Coolangatta Physiotherapist and or Coolangatta Physiotherapy. Though not a direct variation to the two above, a broader approach is often taken with a search like; physio near me, or if a practice is more intended then physiotherapy near me is quite often the search. We have found that depending on the demographics the use of the word 'in' features quite heavily, and so we'll often see Physio in Coolangatta, Physiotherapist in Coolangatta and Physiotherapy in Coolangatta as common phrases. In the end, we do our best to be as visible and accessible for our patients in and around our local area as possible.

Coolangatta profile

Coolangatta, or known to locals as “Cooly”, is the southernmost suburb of the City of Gold Coast, Queensland and borders New South Wales (NSW). This coastal area, which plays host to one of the most significant surfing events, is home to 5,948 people based on the 2016 census.

This suburb was named after the schooner “Coolangatta”, which was wrecked on Kirra/Bilinga Beach during a storm in 1846.

Coolangatta has a shared economy with its “Twin Town” Tweed Heads in NSW, where the Tweed River provides abundant seafood for both suburbs.

History of Coolangatta

Captain Cook sailed by Coolangatta during his voyage in 1770, where he named famous landmarks such as the Point Danger. By the year 1828, Coolangatta served as home to the largest European settlers in the Gold Coast and was established as a border town in 1883. During this time the suburb had a pilot station, customs house & a hotel. Its growth spurted due to the opening of the Brisbane-Tweed Heads railway in 1903.

In the early 1900s, visitors by the thousands came to Coolangatta by train for family holidays, fishing and surfing. Several hotels and amenities were built to support the growing tourism industry.

Facilities Around Coolangatta

From a small coastal town, Coolangatta is now promoted as a luxury travel destination. This suburb boasts various hotels and resorts operating on the Marine Parade along with cafes, restaurants and shopping centres.

The Strand at Coolangatta is a shopping centre filled with various retail stores and entertainment facilities for the whole family.

The Coolangatta and Tweed Heads Golf Club offers enthusiasts to play the sport in its two championship golf courses that span across 36 hotels.
