Canning Vale is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It is located 16 kilometres south of the CBD and is in the local government areas of the City of Canning and the City of Gosnells.

History of Canning Vale

The name Canning Vale was derived from the Canning River, which is located just 3 kilometres northeast of the suburb.

Having a swampy terrain with an abundance of permanent freshwater, Canning Vale was mostly a farming area with market gardens and dairy farms up until the 1970s. Since its redevelopment, the suburb is now primarily residential with developers landscaping lakes to drain the swampy area.

Facilities Around Canning Vale

Canning Vale has five retail precincts, four of which are located in the residential area. The industrial area of the suburb is located north-west.

The main shopping centre of Canning Vale is Livingston Marketplace, located at the corner of Ranford and Nicholson Roads. A Woolworths, a pharmacy, retail, specialty stores and restaurants are found here.

Located on Bannister Road, this weekend market has been attracting thousands of crowds since its opening in 1990. Over 300 stalls sell all sorts of products from new to second-hand treasures.

Ruth Avenue Reserve

This neighbourhood reserve is a quaint oasis for residents and visitors alike. This park has a lake in the centre with a cascading waterfall. Two gazebos are overlooking the lake, which is an ideal venue for intimate events like small weddings. There’s also a children’s playground and dog-friendly walking paths.
