History of Burleigh

Burleigh is a historical site, believed to have been in existence over 23 million years ago. It is believed that the land was formed from molten lava that overflowed from different eruptions of Mount Warning. As the lava reached the shore area, Burleigh was formed. Given this unique geological starting point, you now see a large variety of rock types in the region, which have a significant influence on the vegetation type, the animals, and the landscape.
