Find us online

Physio Barangaroo is (from our research) one of the most common searches our patient's use to find us, followed by Physiotherapist Barangaroo and interestingly, Physiotherapy Barangaroo. Patients often search us by suburb first, however, and as a result, some other typical searches include Barangaroo Physio, Barangaroo Physiotherapist and or Barangaroo Physiotherapy. Though not a direct variation to the two above, a broader approach is often taken with a search like; physio near me, or if a practice is more intended then physiotherapy near me is quite often the search. We have found that depending on the demographics the use of the word 'in' features quite heavily, and so we'll often see Physio in Barangaroo, Physiotherapist in Barangaroo and Physiotherapy in Barangaroo as common phrases. In the end, we do our best to be as visible and accessible for our patients in and around our local area as possible.

Barangaroo profile

Barangaroo is the newest suburb of Sydney, New South Wales (NSW) located just at the north-western tip of the Sydney CBD and at the south end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is under the local government area of the City of Sydney.

Barangaroo has a land area of 0.22km2 and is home to 189 residents, based on the 2016 census. It is bordered by the suburbs: Millers Point, Dawes Point and The Rocks.

History of Barangaroo

Traditionally, the Sydney region where Barangaroo is located was owned by the Cadigal people. The area was primarily used for fishing and hunting before the colonial settlement.

In 2003, the NSW government decided to redevelop the precinct from shipping and stevedoring into an area for commercial and recreation.

Following a public competition for a concept plan, the East Darling area was renamed in October 2007 in honour of Barangaroo, a Kamaraygal woman. She was the second wife of Bennelong, an interlocutor between the Aboriginal people and colonists in NSW. Barangaroo opposed her husband working with the British colonists.

The redevelopment of Barangaroo divided the suburb into three precincts: Barangaroo South, Barangaroo Central and Barangaroo Reserve. Barangaroo South is an extension of the Sydney CBD, where office buildings, a hotel, apartments and public spaces were built. The Barangaroo Central will consist of low-rise residential buildings and is aimed to be “the beating heart” of the suburb, while the Barangaroo Reserve is a re-created headland park.

Facilities Around Barangaroo

As the suburb is still undergoing redevelopment, several facilities are still under construction. However, numerous restaurants that serve fresh food and international cuisine (Vietnamese, Chinese, etc.), cafes and speciality shops operate in Barangaroo.

Local and international designers and boutiques are located at Barangaroo’s southern precinct. There are also health services and wellbeing specialists in the area.

To get around, Barangaroo is served by the State Transit bus, while the Barangaroo railway station is an up and coming rapid transit that will benefit the suburb. The Darling Harbour ferry wharf was replaced by the Barangaroo ferry wharf that links the suburbs to other precincts.
